Löwenapotheke

The Löwenapotheke is a timber-framed building with curved braces located at Stiftsplatz in Aschaffenburg. The structure displays typical characteristics of Central German half-timbered construction with visible wooden beams and clay infill panels.

The building originated in the 16th century as a significant structure at the square. After being destroyed in 1945, it was reconstructed using historically accurate methods between 1991 and 1995.

The name refers to the lion emblem that historically identified this pharmacy. Visitors can observe how traditional craftsmanship shaped the building's character when it was rebuilt.

The building is centrally located at Stiftsplatz and easily accessible on foot. The site integrates well with the surrounding downtown area and can be paired with other sights at the square.

The building demonstrates stockwerksbau, a construction technique where each layer of beams plays its own role in supporting the structure. This method was characteristic of the region and provided distinctive stability and flexibility.
