Villa Nordstern, Protected villa in Lehrte, Germany
Villa Nordstern is a listed villa in Lehrte, a town in the Hanover region of Germany. The building stands on a large plot and currently operates as a kindergarten serving the local community.
The villa was built in 1892 by a cement manufacturer who also ran a stud farm on the property. It later became a children's home in 1990 and underwent a major renovation in the early 2020s.
Villa Nordstern takes its name from a prize horse that once lived on the stud farm the original owner kept on the grounds. The building's ornate facade still shows the style favored by wealthy industrialists in the late 19th century.
Since the building now operates as an active kindergarten, access to the grounds is generally restricted for visitors. The facade can still be seen from the street, which makes a short stop worthwhile.
In a 2022 facade competition, the villa was named the most beautiful house in the Hanover region. The award recognized how closely the restoration work matched the building's original appearance.
