Glasmalereianstalt Ferdinand Müller, Stained glass workshop in Quedlinburg, Germany

Glasmalereianstalt Ferdinand Müller is a stained glass workshop located in Quedlinburg that produces windows and decorative glass works. The facility at Gernröder Weg 3 contains large working spaces where glass panels are assembled, designed, and finished for various building projects.

The workshop was founded in 1876 and by 1900 employed approximately 70 workers who completed around 70 glazing projects yearly for churches. It quickly became an important supplier of stained glass to religious and public buildings throughout the Prussian region.

The workshop represents a place where old-fashioned glassmaking techniques are still practiced and visible to visitors. You can observe artisans using traditional methods that have been passed down over generations to create church windows and decorative glass pieces.

Visiting the workshop gives you a direct view of how craftspeople work with glass and create their pieces. It helps to spend time observing the different stages of production, as the skill involved becomes clearer when you watch the process unfold over time.

Between 1902 and 1904, the workshop sent its stained glass creations to faraway places including Russia, Norway, East Africa, and Samoa. This worldwide reach reveals how much the quality of the work was valued internationally, long before modern shipping became routine.
