Genezareth Church, Gothic Revival church in Schillerkiez, Neukölln, Germany.
Genezareth Church is a brick building with Gothic Revival features including tall pointed arches and expansive windows that flood the worship area with natural light. The detailed masonry work is visible throughout the structure, creating a strong sense of vertical emphasis.
Franz Schwechten designed this building and it opened to worshipers in 1905, becoming part of the neighborhood's religious life early in the 20th century. Severe damage during World War II led to a major reconstruction in 1955 that restored it to working condition.
The interior features the Burning Bush artwork with green and blue glass that filters light into the worship space. A mosaic near the entrance depicts the story of Peter sinking into the water.
The church is accessible during weekdays and weekends, though opening times may vary depending on services and events being held. It's advisable to check ahead for specific times when you can visit the building and explore its interior.
A round pink carpet in the central worship area adds a modern touch to the traditional Gothic Revival design. This unexpected detail shows how contemporary elements have been woven into the building's original character.
