Goldner Steinrück, Mountain summit in the Vogelsberg near Ulrichstein, Germany

Goldner Steinrück is a 578.1 m high mountain of the Vogelsberg in the Vogelsbergkreis, Hesse, lying between Engelrod, part of Lautertal, to the southeast and Helpershain, a district of Ulrichstein, to the northwest. Its summit area carries a wind farm of 43 turbines, the largest contiguous wind farm in Hesse by number of installations and total rated output, extending over the Gemarkungen of Dirlammen, Engelrod and Meiches as well as Ulrichstein.

The wind farm on Goldner Steinrück is the largest contiguous one in Hesse by turbine count and total rated output, with 43 turbines. In May 2012 the Hessian Administrative Court in Kassel suspended the operating permit for five of seven turbines erected the previous year with a hub height of 138 m, after a suit by NABU. In December 2012 the parties agreed to end the proceedings, including a fund for biodiversity with 500,000 euros in starting capital.

The name Goldner Steinrück ("golden stone ridge") is the mountain's local label, and the summit area is now defined by the Windpark "Goldner Steinrück", whose 43 turbines make it the largest contiguous wind farm in Hesse by turbine count and total rated output. The park extends across the Gemarkungen of Dirlammen, Engelrod and Meiches in Lautertal as well as Ulrichstein's own districts.

The summit lies between Engelrod, part of Lautertal, to the southeast and Helpershain, a district of Ulrichstein, to the northwest. The wind farm area extends across the Gemarkungen of Dirlammen, Engelrod and Meiches. Visitors should expect turbines close to paths and check access routes from these villages rather than from Ulrichstein town centre.
