Vogels Berg, Mountain summit in Hesse, Germany.

The Vogels Berg summit rises from central Germany's landscape, forming part of Europe's largest basalt formation with dark volcanic stones scattered across its surface.

The mountain's volcanic activity occurred between 10 to 20 million years ago, with the most intense eruptions taking place from 15 to 18 million years ago.

The name translates to 'Bird Mountain' in German, reflecting the regional nomenclature and connection to the numerous bird species inhabiting the surrounding nature preserve.

Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit, requiring appropriate footwear and basic hiking equipment for a safe ascent through the varying terrain conditions.

The summit contains geological evidence of ancient volcanic processes, displaying a collection of tholeiite basalts, alkali basalts, and basanites in their primitive form.
