Heriboldisburg, Medieval castle ruin near Herbolzheim, Germany
The round stone tower stands 25 meters tall with a diameter of 9 meters, surrounded by remaining sections of the original defensive walls.
The Knights of Herbolzheim first established this fortress in the 12th century, and by 1330 the castle came under the control of Worms Cathedral.
The fortress represents the architectural traditions of medieval German defensive structures, with its strategic position overlooking the Jagst River valley.
Recent restoration work has reinforced the main tower structure, making it safe for visitors to explore the medieval fortification remains.
The current name Heriboldesburg originated from a misinterpretation in a 1902 textbook, while the original stones were used to build the local bridge.
