Gutshaus Üselitz

Gutshaus Üselitz is a three-story manor house located on Rügen island near the Üselitzer Wiek bay. The building sits within a maintained park landscape featuring mature fruit trees and protected greenery.

The estate developed as a working agricultural property that shaped the rural landscape of Rügen for generations. Following World War II it served as shelter, eventually fell into disrepair, and underwent systematic restoration beginning in the late 1990s.

The manor represents the architectural identity of rural Rügen, with its design reflecting the building traditions of landed estates in this region.

The building houses residential apartments on its upper floors while ground-level spaces host various events throughout the year. Visitors can typically access the grounds and attend events, though visiting the interior may require prior arrangement.

The adjacent Üselitzer Wiek bay was drained in the 1920s, reflooded in 2011, and now functions as a nature reserve. Migratory birds including cranes, herons, and cormorants use the wetland as a resting stop during their journeys.
