Schrecksee

Schrecksee is an alpine lake located at about 1813 meters in the Allgäu Alps, surrounded by steep mountain slopes. The water mirrors the surrounding peaks and small islands create visual interest on the surface.

The name originated from local stories of mysterious events near the water that shaped how medieval residents understood the place. These tales established the meaning that persists in its name today.
