Gut Hahn

Gut Hahn is a manor house in Oldenburg featuring a main residence, farm buildings, and a chapel near a small lake. The entire property spans several hectares in a quiet rural setting northeast of the city center.

The estate first appeared in records in 1059 as Villa Hona and was owned by the Counts of Oldenburg for several centuries. The Johanniter order took control after 1310 and maintained the property through the medieval period.

The property displays typical northern German architecture with timber framing and brick that visitors notice immediately upon arrival. Today it functions as an event venue where weddings and conferences take place within this historical setting.

The property features a medieval motte about 100 meters north of the main building, a remnant from the early medieval period that many visitors overlook. This earthwork is an unusual survival from defensive architecture of that era and provides insight into how the site was once protected.
