Gut Hodenberg, Cultural heritage ensemble in Oberneuland, Bremen, Germany.
Gut Hodenberg is an estate spanning seven hectares of parkland in Oberneuland near Bremen, Germany. The property features a manor house built in 1767 along with European furniture collections and Asian sculptures displayed throughout the buildings and grounds.
The estate was founded around 1149 by the von Hodenberg family and remained under their control until 1608. The Clüver family then acquired the property and shaped its development over the following centuries.
The grounds feature a nature theater added in 1906 by Lilly Rickmers, which still hosts outdoor performances during the warmer months. Visitors today can experience cultural events that bring the estate to life throughout the year.
The property is managed by the Robert Rickmers Foundation, which arranges visits and organizes cultural events throughout the year. Check in advance for current opening times and guided tour availability before planning your visit.
From 1800 to 1863, the estate operated as a mental health clinic led by the Engelken family, a physician family from Bremen. This medical history phase represents a lesser-known but significant chapter in the property's past.
