Craftmen's Courtyard, Craft courtyard near Central Station in Nuremberg, Germany.
The Craftsmen's Courtyard is a craft complex near Nuremberg's Central Station featuring small half-timbered and stone buildings nestled within medieval city walls. The buildings contain active workshops and shops selling traditional handcrafted goods and regional products.
The complex was established in 1971 to mark the 500th anniversary of Albrecht Dürer. It occupies the former arsenal site within Nuremberg's surviving medieval fortifications.
Craftspeople demonstrate their skills daily through gingerbread making, pottery, glassblowing, and metalwork. Visitors can watch these traditional techniques being practiced in real time.
The courtyard is open year-round with free entry and sits directly across from the Central Station, making it easily accessible on foot. The site has multiple water-equipped entrances from different directions for convenient access.
A 14th-century tower called Frauentorturm is integrated directly into the complex and serves as its distinctive landmark. This stone structure anchors the entire courtyard and creates a visual focal point for visitors.
