Haunscher Hof is an old residential building in Bad Salzungen with crafted details that reflect the building traditions of the region. The house shows how such homes were designed in earlier times, with sturdy walls and characteristic windows and doors.

Built around 1450, the Haunsche Hof is one of the oldest buildings in Bad Salzungen's town centre. In 1487 Count Friedrich von Henneberg granted the "Henneberger Hof" to the von Haun family, from whom the present name derives. The complex was rebuilt in Renaissance style in 1624, passed into bourgeois ownership in 1810 and later served as a spa guesthouse.

The name derives from the von Haun family, who received the "Henneberger Hof" from Count Friedrich von Henneberg in 1487. Since 2001 the Bad Salzunger Kulturverein has used the building, and its club and exhibition rooms can be visited there today.

The building sits in the center of Bad Salzungen and is easily reached on foot. It helps to visit early in the day when there is less traffic and you can see the facade better.

The coat of arms on the three-storey stair tower is dated 1624, the year of the Renaissance rebuilding. The building itself was erected around 1450, and in 1487 the von Haun family received the "Henneberger Hof" from Count Friedrich von Henneberg, which gave the house its present name.
