Marbach stud, Horse stud farm in Gomadingen, Germany.
Marbach stud is a horse breeding facility operating across three locations in Marbach, Offenhausen, and St. Johann in Baden-Württemberg. The property maintains around 380 horses of various breeds, including Württemberger warmbloods, Black Forest horses, and Arabs.
The stud was founded around 1477 by Count Eberhard V as a private breeding operation and converted to a state-run facility in 1573 to improve local horse breeding. This transformation made it a major center for equine development in the region.
The annual stallion parade draws 500,000 visitors to witness demonstrations of various breeds, including Württemberger warmbloods, Black Forest horses, and Arabian thoroughbreds.
The facility operates riding and driving schools that train around 600 students yearly. Visitors can explore the grounds and observe horses in their daily routines throughout the property.
The Weil-Marbach Arabian breeding program celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2017 and maintains specific bloodlines that contribute to modern sport horse development. This long tradition gives these breeding lines international recognition among professional breeders.
