Haus Füchten

Haus Füchten is a two-story manor house with accompanying service buildings located east of the Ruhr River near the village of Hünningen. A baroque bridge from 1698 connects the property to the surrounding landscape.

A castle recorded as curtis de Vuchtene stood on this site from 1298 onwards. Around 1700, Caspar Diedrich von Droste zu Erwitte demolished it and built the present manor house in its place.

The grand hall on the first floor displays ornate stucco decoration and serves as a venue for concerts and cultural events. The rooms convey a sense of refined living from the 18th century.

The estate sits along two major cycling routes: the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path and the Panorama Route of the Möhnetal Cycle Path. This location makes it a natural stopping point for cyclists exploring the region.

In the 19th century, the estate housed an agricultural school for disadvantaged boys and orphans operated by the Mellin Foundation. This social mission, though less known today, shaped daily life on the property for decades.
