Heeresbekleidungsamt Bernau

The Heeresbekleidungsamt Bernau is a military uniform manufacturing complex located in Bernau bei Berlin. The site consists of eight bow-shaped buildings connected by covered passages and constructed from reinforced concrete and clinker brick.

The facility was founded in 1938 as a military uniform production center and employed thousands of workers. Following World War II, Soviet forces took over the site and operated it for specialized purposes until the late 20th century.

The complex displays the design language of the 1930s through its characteristic vaulted concrete and brick structures. It embodies the typical layout of large production facilities from that era, which combined efficiency with functional design.

After 1945, Soviet units operated a chemical laundry and military mail distribution center on the grounds. This dual use made the site a unique example of post-war adaptation of industrial complexes.
