Hellmuth Ulrici Clinic, Medical facility and sanatorium in Kremmen, Germany.
Hellmuth Ulrici Clinic is a medical facility and sanatorium in Kremmen designed by architect Richard Ermisch near a lake. The complex spreads across landscaped grounds with separate departments housed in multiple buildings, plus a chapel and support facilities.
The facility was founded in 1913 as Waldhaus Charlottenburg and initially served as a sanatorium for lung conditions. After German reunification it transformed into a specialized orthopedic clinic.
The building reflects Alpine country house architecture, which gives the place a distinctive character and has made it a protected heritage site since 1995. You notice these architectural choices in the design of the structures as soon as you arrive on the grounds.
The grounds are easy to navigate as departments are clearly separated, with plenty of space to move between buildings. The surrounding park setting helps you get your bearings and makes walking around more comfortable.
The original Waldhaus Charlottenburg was designed as a retreat for people with lung conditions and borrowed its name from a Berlin palace. This heritage of healing remains evident in the quiet setting of the location today.
