Kloster Au am Inn, Benedictine abbey in Gars, Germany
The monastery complex contains a baroque parish church with two Rococo side chapels and a Pieta sculpture from 1737.
Founded in 1122 by Archbishop Konrad I of Salzburg as an Augustinian monastery, it transformed into a Franciscan convent in 1854.
The church holds the skull reliquary of Saint Vitalis from 1517, featuring a detachable silver-encased cranium for religious ceremonies.
The monastery operates a support center for children and youth with disabilities, providing specialized education and care services.
Every October, the monastery courtyard hosts a large pottery and wool market attracting vendors from across Germany.
