Parkbühne Wuhlheide, Open-air theatre in Wuhlheide Park, Berlin, Germany
Parkbühne Wuhlheide is an open-air theater in southeast Berlin that holds up to 17,000 spectators on terraced seating surrounding the stage. The amphitheater sits nestled among trees and forest, which form the natural backdrop for performances.
The venue was built in 1951 on a mound of World War II rubble as a setting for the World Festival of Youth and Students. Mayor Friedrich Ebert Jr. opened the facility for this international gathering.
The venue takes its name from the Berliner Kindl brewery, which has sponsored it since the early 2000s. Visitors gather here to experience music and performances in an outdoor setting shared with nature.
You can reach the venue easily by taking the S3 S-Bahn line to Wuhlheide station, then walking a short distance through the forest. The surrounding area offers parking, and the green space allows you to enjoy nature before or after your visit.
The stage has a permanent steel roof structure that can support up to 16 tons of technical equipment for productions. This setup allows for professional shows while protecting the performance area from weather without blocking the open-air experience.
