Wöhrder Wiese

Wöhrder Wiese is a park that lines the Pegnitz River with wide meadows, walking paths, and natural plantings throughout. The space stretches across a generous area with different landscape features and open sections to explore.

The park was created as a flood protection measure to safeguard the Old Town from river overflow. Converting the riverside area into a managed green space became essential for preserving the historic district.

The riverside grounds attract locals who gather for events, social moments, and leisure time on the open meadows. People use the space to connect with others and enjoy the natural setting in the heart of the city.

The park is easy to reach from the city center by crossing Insel Schütt bridge area. There are several entry points and plenty of parking options near the grounds.

At the western end near the adjoining lake, water fountains and sculptures can be found, including a horse statue that echoes famous city fountains. These features are often passed by, though they add a special character to the visit.
