Hörder Burg, Medieval castle in Hörde district, Germany

The Hörder Burg features thick stone walls measuring 1.60 meters and a central tower with dimensions of 6.40 by 6.40 meters.

The castle, first mentioned in 1198 in Emperor Otto IV's diploma for Corvey Abbey, initially consisted of a residential tower used by Knight Albert I of Hörde.

The structure evolved from a noble residence to a steel mill in 1840 when industrialist Hermann Diedrich Piepenstock acquired the property for manufacturing purposes.

Following extensive renovations completed in 2017, the castle now serves as the headquarters of the North Rhine-Westphalia Savings Bank Academy.

During the Great Dortmund Feud in 1389, residents of Dortmund set fire to 11 surrounding villages attempting to lure out the castle's occupants.
