Kaiserstraße, Cultural heritage street in Mainz, Germany
The one-kilometer Kaiserstraße features a central green strip with sports fields and decorative pavement, connecting the old town with Neustadt.
Architect Eduard Kreyßig developed Kaiserstraße in 1873, and the street received its current name in 1888 to honor Kaiser Wilhelm I.
The Christuskirche, completed in 1903 as the largest Protestant church in Mainz, stands prominently at the western end of Kaiserstraße.
The street functions as part of federal highway B40 with three lanes in each direction, starting near the main train station.
The Hans-Klenk Fountain, inaugurated during Mainz's 2000-year celebration in 1962, remains a central feature of the street's park-like median.
