Hilton Dresden, Five-star hotel in Dresden, Germany.
Hilton Dresden is a hotel occupying an entire block between Terrassengasse, Münzgasse, Töpferstraße, and Brühlsche Gasse in the Inner Old Town district. The building connects directly to the Sekundogenitur building and provides views of the Church of Our Lady from numerous guest rooms.
The hotel was built between 1987 and 1989 as the 'Dresdner Hof' and opened in January 1990. It was among the first buildings constructed in historical style at Dresden's New Market following the city's post-Cold War development.
The building reflects traditional Dresden architectural features like bay windows and dormer windows found throughout the Old Town. Its light-colored plastered facades along Münzgasse blend naturally with the surrounding historic streetscape.
The hotel is easily accessible in the heart of the Old Town and offers direct access to restaurants and shops in the immediate surroundings. Visitors should note that the location is very central and can be quite busy.
When it first opened, the hotel operated its own bakery, butcher shop, laundry facility, and printing house for complete self-sufficiency. This model of integrated service operations was common for hotels of that era but has since been phased out in most establishments.
