Historische Holzbrücke Wünschendorf

The bridge extends 71 meters across the White Elster River, featuring a wooden construction covered with shingles and supported by thick wooden beams.

Built in 1786 following the destruction of a previous structure by flooding, this bridge stands where crossings have existed since the 13th century.

The bridge represents traditional German engineering methods from the 18th century and received recognition as the most beautiful bridge in Central Germany in 2007.

The structure maintains a height limit of 2.10 meters and a weight restriction of 2,000 kilograms, permitting single-lane traffic across the river.

The bridge underwent reconstruction in 2013, incorporating steel and concrete foundations while preserving its historical wooden upper structure and appearance.
