Maria Kappel, Catholic pilgrimage church in Schmiechen, Germany.
The church features a slender tower with an octagonal section and onion dome, standing at the corner between the crypt chapel and nave.
The Fugger family acquired the Schmiechen estate from Emperor Maximilian I in the early 16th century and maintained ownership for three centuries until 1809.
The Kappelfest celebration takes place annually on the first Sunday in July, bringing local believers together for a pilgrimage to the church.
The parish office operates on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hauptstraße 13 in Merching.
Franz Martin Kuen painted the large fresco in the nave depicting Esther before Ahasuerus in 1755, following his choir fresco from 1754.
