St. Johannes der Täufer, Gothic Revival church in Warendorf, Germany.
St. Johannes der Täufer is a Gothic Revival brick church with a rectangular hall and slender western tower standing near Bundesstrasse 64. The building displays the pointed arches and vertical emphasis typical of 19th-century Gothic Revival design.
A chapel first appeared on the Affhuppen estate in 1695, followed by a Baroque chapel built in 1710. The current Gothic Revival structure was constructed between 1854 and 1856 based on designs by architect Emil von Manger.
The building now serves as storage for church furnishings and is not open to the public for regular visits. You can view the architecture from outside to appreciate its Gothic Revival features.
The church was transferred from the Diocese of Munster to the parish of St. Laurentius in 1967, ending its role as an active place of worship. This handover marked a turning point in how the building would be used.
