Wietzepark, Recreational park in Langenhagen and Isernhagen, Germany
Wietzepark is a large recreational park spanning across Langenhagen and Isernhagen, featuring walking and cycling paths alongside a lake for swimming. The green space combines quieter woodland trails with more active leisure areas.
The park began as a joint project in the early 2000s, built on former farmland shared by the two municipalities. The initiative grew when Isernhagen became a formal partner and expanded the grounds.
The park owes its name to the Wietze river that flows through it, creating a natural thread connecting the two towns. Local residents use the green space as a gathering point for weekend outings and outdoor recreation.
The park is easy to reach with parking areas available in the southern section and bus stops nearby for public transport access. Cycling routes are well marked and connect to the local cycling network.
The lake is notably deep for a recreation area, allowing swimmers to experience significant depth in what was created from former mining activity. An elevated rope course stretches from the beach area toward a wooded peninsula.
