Langenhagen is a city in the Hanover region made up of six districts, including Engelbostel, Godshorn and Kaltenweide. The municipality spreads across flat terrain marked by residential neighborhoods, commercial zones and green spaces.
The city became the center of a technical standard in 1990 when measurement parameters for hunting weapons were developed here and later adopted across the firearms industry. Already in the 1980s, the town had established itself as a site for technological innovation when the first Compact Disc manufacturing facility opened here.
The municipality maintains strong international connections through partnerships with cities in the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Poland, France, and Austria.
The town sits north of Hanover and is easily reached by bus lines and regional trains. The international airport in the northern part of town offers connections to many European destinations.
In the northern part of town stands a transmitter from the early 20th century that was once used for longwave communication. The transmission tower is now a technical monument and recalls the early days of wireless broadcasting.
