Kananohe, Protected forest area in Langenhagen, Germany.

The Kananohe nature reserve stretches across 45 hectares, featuring mixed oak forests, birch groves, and numerous drainage ditches flowing into the Auter River.

In 1843, garden inspector Heinrich Ludolph Wendland transported 36 mature oak trees from Kananohe to the Welfen mausoleum garden in Herrenhausen.

The reserve maintains traditional German forestry practices, balancing natural forest development with sustainable wood management in designated sections.

Visitors can access the nature reserve through the Kananoher Strasse, opposite the Heideschlösschen building, leading to the main entrance path.

The protected area includes an 11.4-hectare natural forest reserve established in 1974, containing large amounts of decaying wood supporting local biodiversity.
