Schlossanlage Ullstadt, Baroque castle and park in Sugenheim, Germany

The Schlossanlage Ullstadt is a Baroque complex centered on a water castle with two flanking wings, both embellished with carved stone figures and ornamental details across their surfaces. The main structure is surrounded by auxiliary buildings including a gardener's residence, decorative garden pavilion, and farm structures that form an integrated estate.

The main castle was built from 1718 to 1725 following designs by architect Johann Dientzenhofer, replacing an earlier fortification that stood on the same ground. This Baroque construction took shape during a time of prosperity and cultural growth in the Franconia region.

The entrance displays family crests from the Franckenstein lineage merged with symbols representing the Cleen and Sachsenhausen branches, which remain visible to visitors. These carved emblems reflect the noble connections that shaped life at this estate.

Visiting allows you to explore the entire complex from the exterior, with the main gate providing the best starting point and a clear overview of all structures. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the gardens and outdoor spaces are fully accessible and in good condition.

Sculptor Ferdinand Tietz, who served as court sculptor for Bamberg, created decorative stone figures and ornaments specifically for this complex that remain visible today. His craftsmanship is evident in the skilled execution and artistic style of numerous details throughout the estate.
