TAK, Cabaret and theatre venue in Linden-Limmer, Germany.
TAK, short for Theater am Küchengarten, is a cabaret and theatre venue in the Linden district of Hanover, housed in a former bathhouse on Am Küchengarten square. The hall holds around 150 seats and the program rotates frequently with many different productions each season.
The building began as a public bathhouse and was converted into a theatre and cabaret space around 30 years ago. Since then it has grown into a regular stop for both experimental works and more established stage productions in Hanover.
The name TAK stands for Theater am Küchengarten, named after the square just outside the building. Audiences sit close to the stage, so performers and spectators share the same small space throughout the show.
The program changes often, so checking upcoming shows in advance is a good idea before planning a visit. The venue is not wheelchair accessible, so visitors with mobility needs should keep this in mind when planning.
TAK runs its own in-house restaurant that serves homemade food and a selection of wines on site. Guests can eat before or after a show without leaving the building, making the evening self-contained.
