Jröne Meerke

Jröne Meerke is a lake and park area in Neuss formed from a former gravel pit, now surrounded by green spaces with walking paths and play equipment. The site features a beach section, sunbathing areas, children's playground, and designated barbecue zones for visitors.

The site was originally a gravel pit that was transformed into a public recreation area during the 1970s. This conversion became part of Neuss's broader green space planning and integration strategy.

The park forms part of Neuss's continuous green corridor that links major recreation areas like Rheinpark, Rosengarten, and Stadtwald. Visitors experience how these green spaces connect different neighborhoods and create a unifying route through the city.

The lake hosts an unusual population of Snow Geese, approximately 120 birds descended from escaped specimens that are rare in Western Europe. This bird colony regularly attracts birdwatchers and photographers seeking to observe these uncommon birds.
