Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Balthasar in Olpe

The Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Balthasar contains individual rooms adapted for disabled children, a music room, a reading room, and specialized areas for therapeutic activities.

Founded in 1998 as Germany's first children's hospice, the facility drew inspiration from Helen House in Oxford and emerged from parents' initiatives through the German Children's Hospice Association.

The facility operates under the Franciscan Sisters of Olpe charitable organization, integrating medical care with spiritual support for families facing terminal illnesses.

The hospice accommodates eight children simultaneously, with fifty percent of operational costs covered by health insurance while the remainder depends on public donations.

The youth section, added in 2009, features rooms with specialized technology allowing teenagers to control lights, blinds, and music independently.
