Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Balthasar in Olpe

Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Balthasar is a specialized facility with eight individually equipped rooms for seriously ill children and areas dedicated to therapeutic activities. The building features a music room, a reading area, and variously designed spaces to meet different needs.

The facility was founded in 1998 and was Germany's first children's hospice. The project emerged from parent initiatives and drew inspiration from Helen House in Oxford.

The facility combines medical care with spiritual support provided by the Franciscan Sisters of Olpe. Families find a place where both physical and emotional needs are taken seriously during difficult times.

The hospice provides a calm and secure environment with special facilities to support both physical and emotional needs. Visitors should be aware that this is a sensitive place and consideration for patients and their families is essential.

The youth section added in 2009 features rooms with specialized technology allowing teenagers to control lights, blinds, and music independently. This setup gives young patients a sense of control and independence that becomes especially valuable in their situation.
