Kartause Güterstein, Medieval monastery ruins near Bad Urach, Germany
The Güterstein Charterhouse comprised religious buildings near the Güterstein waterfalls in the Swabian Alps, including a church and residential quarters.
The monastery, established in the 13th century as a Cistercian foundation, later served as a burial site for the Counts of Württemberg from 1441.
The monastery produced religious literature for the public, including medical texts and printed prayer books during its period as a Carthusian institution.
The monastery site contains limited remains today, with most structures dismantled during the Reformation period of 1535.
The location near tufa-rich springs led to subsequent industrial use, with the stone quarried and water utilized by a neighboring stud farm.
