Haus auf der Alb

Haus auf der Alb is an architectural monument and conference center on the northern edge of the Swabian Jura with bright rooms and expansive windows. These large openings connect interior spaces directly to the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of openness throughout the building.

Built between 1929 and 1930 as a merchant rest home, the building followed classical modernism principles designed by architect Adolf Gustav Schneck. After World War II, it served as a military hospital before being transformed into a political education center in 1992.

The rooms bear names of people who advanced democracy and human rights, reflecting the educational purpose of the place. Visitors encounter this naming tradition as part of their daily experience at the center.
