Maria Immaculata, Baroque Jesuit church in Büren, Germany
The Maria Immaculata church displays a combination of South German Baroque architecture with Italian influences, featuring decorated pillars and ornate sculptures on its facade.
Construction of the church began in 1754 after Moritz von Büren, the last male descendant of the noble family, specified in his will to build a church for Jesuits.
The ceiling frescoes, painted by Joseph Gregor Winck, represent various scenes from the life of Saint Mary in pastel colors throughout the church interior.
The church opens for guided tours every third Sunday of the month at 4:00 PM, allowing visitors to explore the architectural details and religious artwork.
The Maria Immaculata stands as one of the few examples of South German Baroque architecture north of the Main River, marking the Büren skyline for over 250 years.
