Franziskanerkloster Schwarzenberg, Franciscan monastery in Scheinfeld, Germany.
The Franciscan monastery is a monastic complex in Scheinfeld with a church built in 1732 according to designs by architect Balthasar Neumann. The interior is defined by a stone altar from 1746 that serves as the focal point of the chapel.
The complex grew from a small wooden chapel built in 1670 by Countess Maria Justina of Schwarzenberg. The original foundation gradually developed into the larger structure visible today.
The monastery remains a place of prayer and silence where visitors can experience the daily rhythms of monastic life. The spaces are arranged to invite reflection and mirror the everyday practices of the community.
The monastery accommodates guests with about 70 beds and offers seminars, courses, and lectures. Visitors who wish to spend time here can make use of various programs in a quiet setting.
A fire destroyed much of the building in 1960, yet the valuable library collection was saved through careful preservation. These literary treasures remain an important part of the complex to this day.
