The monastery features a Romanesque church with preserved architectural elements including western crossing piers, transept sections, and a prominent tower structure.
Established between 950 and 1000, the monastery faced destruction from Slavic attacks before Archbishop Gero of Magdeburg initiated its restoration as a Benedictine settlement.
The monastery transformed from a Catholic institution to a Protestant establishment in 1522 when its members joined the Augsburg Confession movement.
Located at Freiheit 23 in Hillersleben, the monastery exterior remains accessible throughout the day, with guided tours available through advance reservations.
The monastery church displays multiple architectural periods, containing a baptismal font from 1580 and an organ crafted by Carl Böttcher in 1879.
