Kraftwerk Neufinsing

Kraftwerk Neufinsing is a hydroelectric facility along the Mittlere-Isar Canal in Finsing, featuring buildings made of solid brick and concrete elements that display the architecture of the 1920s. The plant harnesses water from the canal to generate electricity and has shaped the local landscape since its creation.

The facility opened in 1924 and was part of the early development of hydroelectric power in Bavaria. It was an important project for supplying electricity to the region during the first decade after World War I.

The power station complex shows early industrial architecture from the 1920s that reflects the technical skill of its time. The buildings and structures remain in operation today and speak to the practical engineering knowledge of that era.

The site is located on Seestraße and is accessible by car or bicycle over local roads. The area offers paths along the canal, making for a pleasant visit in nature.

The Pförtnerhaus, originally the gatekeeper's building of the facility, retains its original architectural features from the 1920s to this day. It is one of the few residential and administrative buildings from this period that survives unchanged.
