Landgräfliche Gärten Bad Homburg

Landgräfliche Gärten Bad Homburg, Cultural heritage park in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany.

The Landgräfliche Gärten is a large park in Bad Homburg with fourteen different garden sections connected by pathways. The park spreads across a wide area between the castle and other historic buildings with restored ponds, colonnades, and maintained walking paths.

The gardens were started in 1770 by Landgrave Friedrich V and his wife Caroline, following the style of English landscape parks. This shows how English garden design influenced German noble families and their estates at that time.

The gardens display art and architecture that visitors can experience today while walking through different sections. The Doric temple once served as a tea salon and stands as evidence of past social gatherings.

The park is easy to explore on foot since the different areas are connected by pathways with plenty of walking options. Visitors should wear suitable shoes since the paths cross varied terrain, especially if exploring all the garden sections.

The park contains unusual pine forests that stand out from the typical beech forests of the region. This planting choice was deliberate and created a contrast with the natural woodlands of the Taunus area.
