Wasserturm Pinneberg, Water tower and cultural heritage monument in Pinneberg, Germany
Wasserturm Pinneberg is a water storage structure featuring an octagonal brick base and a circular upper section that rises approximately 41 meters high. The combination of its functional design and eclectic architectural elements creates a distinctive presence in the townscape.
The structure was built in 1912 and followed the design approach of the Husum Water Tower, storing approximately 300 cubic meters of water for municipal supply. This water storage function continued until 1956, when the tower ceased to serve its original purpose.
The tower reflects how early 20th-century communities invested in structures that served both practical needs and local identity. Its brick construction and architectural details represent the building styles of that industrial era in northern Germany.
The tower is located at Peiner Weg 43 and now functions as a residential building with multiple floors. Visitors should note that this is a private residence and can typically be viewed from outside the building.
The water storage section received new windows during renovation while maintaining the original stepped cone form covered in slate. This approach demonstrates how practical modernization and historical preservation were balanced.
