Lebenstedt, Administrative district in Salzgitter, Germany
Lebenstedt is a district of Salzgitter and sits at an elevation of about 89 meters. It functions as a key transportation hub for the region, with Stadtweg station serving as a central interchange point.
The district developed from a labor camp that operated during World War II under Goeringwerke administration. After the war, the area transformed into a modern residential neighborhood with its own infrastructure.
The name comes from a former worker settlement, and today the district still shows traces of this heritage in its layout and buildings. You can see in the streets and structures the deliberate design of an industrial town built to house workers and their families.
The district connects well to surrounding areas through the Verkehrsverbund Region Braunschweig network. Stadtweg station provides the main entry point for visitors arriving by rail or bus.
A monument by Professor Jürgen Weber from 1995 documents six decades of local history and industrial development. This memorial reflects the transformation from the war years into a modern settlement.
