Linden-Center, Shopping center in Neu-Hohenschönhausen, Berlin, Germany.
The Linden-Center is a three-level shopping complex in the Neu-Hohenschönhausen district of Berlin, with around 90 stores covering everyday needs. Alongside the shops, the building also houses a public library and a range of services all under one roof.
The center opened in 1995, replacing a smaller retail facility called Handelshaus that had been operating in the area since the mid-1980s. The project was part of a wider wave of new shopping centers built in the outer districts of Berlin after reunification.
The Anna-Seghers Library inside the center is named after the German novelist Anna Seghers, best known for her novel "The Seventh Cross." The library sits alongside the shops, making it easy for visitors to stop in during a regular shopping trip.
The center has a large two-level parking area and is easy to reach by public transport, with several stops nearby. Coming on a weekday or early in the morning tends to mean fewer crowds inside.
The Linden-Center is one of the few shopping centers in Berlin to house a full public library, not just a bookshop. The library operates as a regular branch of the city library system, with book loans, readings, and exhibitions open to all.
