Margon-Haus, Office building in Seevorstadt-West, Dresden, Germany
The Margon-Haus is a nine-story office building located on Budapester Straße 5 in the Seevorstadt-West district. It features an aluminum facade with concrete side walls and stands across from the Centrum Gallery shopping center.
The building was constructed in 1966 following architect Hans Konrad's urban planning vision for the city. It originally functioned as the administrative center for Dresden's district economic council.
The building displays an illuminated advertisement for Margonwasser, a regional mineral water brand from the area. This distinctive sign with the slogan 'Prickelnd frisch' is a recognizable feature of the streetscape and helps define the character of the neighborhood.
The building is easily accessible by public transport using tram lines 8, 9, 11, and 12 that stop at Prager Straße. Several companies operate offices within the structure today.
The protected Margonwasser advertisement originally came from the ruins of the Hotel Excelsior before being relocated here in 1967. This historical sign is a rare example of a preserved post-war advertisement in Dresden.
