The Moritzburger Kirche is a Protestant place of worship with neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau characteristics located in Moritzburg. The building sits on elevated ground along Schlossallee and creates a notable focal point with its double dome structure.
Construction started in 1902 under architect Richard Schleinitz and concluded with the building's consecration in 1904. The project arose from the need of the expanding town population for a new place of worship.
The interior double dome displays four stucco evangelists that show skilled religious artistry from the early 1900s. The altar area reveals careful craftsmanship in every decorative detail throughout the space.
The church is easy to reach by taking the Lößnitzgrundbahn train directly to Moritzburg station, from where a short walk leads to the building. The location on Schlossallee makes it simple to find and accessible to most visitors.
The building features an uncommon western-facing choir arrangement instead of the typical orientation found in most churches. Inside hangs a painting by Stefano Cattaneo from 1669 depicting the Transfiguration of Christ, showing the age and depth of the artworks housed here.
