Kirche Neu-Westend
Kirche Neu-Westend, Modern church building in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Germany
Kirche Neu-Westend is a modern church building with a reinforced concrete structure and a trapezoidal floor plan. Multiple dormer windows set into the roofline bring natural light into the altar area and define its understated aesthetic.
The congregation separated from the Epiphany community in 1957 and initially held services in temporary locations before the building opened in 1960. This new structure arose from the need of a growing community to establish its own worship space.
The interior is designed with the organ facing the congregation, which shapes how people experience music during services and creates a direct connection between performers and visitors. This arrangement turns each musical moment into something immediate and shared.
The building sits at Eichenallee 47-53 in Berlin and can accommodate around 500 visitors. It is accessible by public transportation and keeps regular weekday hours for visits and services.
Since 1959, hundreds of people gather on Christmas Eve to hear a brass concert performed from the bell tower. This festive tradition has become an anticipated yearly event in the neighborhood.
