Mennonitenkirche Ibersheim

The Mennonite church in Ibersheim is a neoclassical building constructed in 1836, featuring high rounded-arch windows running along its sides and a square turret on the roof that holds a bell tower. The eastern section contains two separate rooms designed for youth activities and community gatherings.

The first Mennonite settlers arrived around 1661 and established one of the oldest communities of this faith in the Palatinate region. The present building was erected much later as evidence of the community's growth and enduring presence in the 1800s.

The interior follows Mennonite principles with a central pulpit that emphasizes preaching and simple worship. The plain design reflects the religious values of the community gathered here.

The building is straightforward to locate and easily identified by its neoclassical design and bell tower. Visitors should know that access may require advance arrangement, especially for groups wishing to explore the interior spaces.

This is the only Mennonite church in southern Germany that has both a tower and bells, which were added in 1866. This distinction sets it apart from other Mennonite buildings in the region, which typically lack such features.
