Schloss Bad Lobenstein

Schloss Bad Lobenstein is a Baroque residence featuring east and west wings connected by a central section that creates a square floor plan. This central structure opens toward the park, linking the building to the surrounding garden layout.

Construction of this residence was commissioned by Heinrich III Reuss zu Lobenstein between 1714 and 1718 following a fire that destroyed the earlier structure. The new building was designed according to Baroque principles and has shaped the town's character since then.

The castle houses a museum displaying regional objects and coin collections from the Reuss family. Temporary exhibitions throughout the year offer visitors glimpses into local heritage and stories.

The garden features a late Baroque pavilion with a quadrilateral shape and distinctive window shutters that serves as a central design element. This pavilion connects architecture and garden design in a way that ties the entire property together.
