Nordsternpark, Industrial park in Gelsenkirchen, Germany
The Nordsternpark spans 100 hectares along the Rhine-Herne Canal and Emscher River, featuring landscaped gardens, walking paths, and preserved mining structures.
The park stands on the grounds of the former Nordstern coal mine, which operated until 1993 before transforming into a recreational space through the 1997 Federal Garden Show.
The amphitheater within the park hosts various music festivals and performances throughout the year, accommodating up to 6,000 visitors for open-air events.
Visitors can access free public grilling areas, rent play equipment at the Ziegenmichel children's area, or dine at Heiner's Beer Garden and Cloud7 restaurant.
The park features an 18-meter-high Hercules statue by Markus Lüpertz, mounted atop the Nordstern Tower, overlooking the entire complex since 2010.
