Postplatz is an oval-shaped square in Görlitz anchored by the Muschelminna fountain in its center. Historic buildings from the Prussian and Gründerzeit periods frame the space on all sides.
This square took shape in 1845 on the grounds of a former women's hospital. After merchant Eduard Schultze purchased the site in 1863, it became a central gathering place for the town.
The Muschelminna fountain, installed in 1887, depicts the goddess Flora and remains a central meeting point for residents and visitors of Görlitz.
The space became a pedestrian zone in 2017, with vehicle access limited to delivery hours only. Visitors can stroll and cycle freely throughout the area at any time.
Six major streets converge here, creating a transport hub with the courthouse, Hotel Victoria, and post office building clustered nearby. This concentration of important structures makes the square an essential reference point for navigating the town.
